Neal, I walked the dog this morning and just cackled as I listened to these Harbingers of Doom songs. Amazing. Perfect additions (somebody call the Norton people cause we've got a good start on an anthology here). Bangers all, and how had I never heard "Lucky Stars"? What a trip! Thanks so much for reading and for the comment!
Just read this over at Chris's site, thought to respond here. It's a deep dive into a subject I never thought about... Interestingly, I am in the midst of directing a show with kids singing a set of "70s Sirens" and we have "Danny's Song" amongst our 24. Those that are about love are generally positive and optimistic which holds to your thought process. Lovely article.
Tony, thank you for writing. And the show you are directing sounds wonderful. They will all remember it for the rest of their lives. Where is this happening?
My show is in Kingston, NY. They all take place around the Woodstock area. I've been part of the Rock Academy here which is pretty pre-eminent and foundational among the generational shift to schools of rock. Sadly this is my last show after 5+ years of directing. I have occasionally written a little more about it/them on my own page.
Love this. Can I just add I'm a big fan of the late-70s era of songs about drifting apart. Personal fave Harbingers of Doom from 78/79:
You Don't Bring Me Flowers , Diamond & Streisand
Lucky Stars, Dean Friedman
Escape (The Pina Colada Song), Rupert Holmes
Beautiful
Love this musical journey. An Era tour of another kind. Well written trip through time.

Ah, I've heard of it. If I were closer, I'd come see it. I hope you savor it as you turn the page.
